ABOUT STEPHANIE BRINNING

Choreographer & Founder of SHE

Stephanie (Margaret) Brinning is a professional dancer and choreographer based in Toronto, Ontario. She began her dance training at the age of 3, exploring various styles such as jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, and contemporary. Growing up, Stephanie danced competitively and recreationally at Hoofers Performing Arts in her hometown of Oshawa and also took drop-in classes in Toronto.

After graduating from high school, Stephanie pursued her passion for dance by attending and graduating from the Commercial Dance Studies program at George Brown College in 2012. Her professional dance journey took off when she joined the Toronto Argos Cheer Team in 2013, performing at the Rogers Center (now Scotiabank Arena) in front of crowds of up to 20,000 people for three consecutive seasons. During her time with the cheer team, Stephanie had the opportunity to dance for various artists such as Karl Wolfe, Karndinal Official, Hedley, and more. She also performed on shows like Breakfast Television and multiple Grey Cup halftime performances. Additionally, Stephanie choreographed for the Jr Cheer Squad, showcasing her creativity and leadership skills.

In 2016, Stephanie decided to explore a different side of the dance industry and transitioned to the heels dance style and genre. She joined Hot in Heels Canada, led by Angela Mahoney Jones, and eventually became a company assistant. Stephanie continued to enhance her skills by training with renowned choreographers like Leah Totten, Hollywood Jade, Mark Samuels, Guila Tripoli, and others. This opened up opportunities for her to dance for musical artists including Bad Bunny, Dani Leigh, Omi, and more.

While her experience and technique were developing, Stephanie discovered a passion for teaching and the creative process. Since 2018, she has been teaching at some of Toronto's most successful dance studios, including Millennium Dance Complex Toronto, City Dance Corps, Studio North Toronto, The Underground Dance Centre, and more. Stephanie also teaches drop-in classes and various programs, allowing her to further explore her choreographic skills. Her work has been featured in performances such as Fever After Dark, Raw Artist Showcase, and various Studio Program Showcases in 2022.

Presently, Stephanie's main focus lies in teaching and pushing the artistic boundaries of dancing in heels. She prioritizes safety and empowerment in her classes, creating a space for her students to grow both technically and artistically. Stephanie's dedication to her craft led her to establish her own professional heels company called The Sole Her Experience (SHE). Through SHE, she offers her own classes, programs, and workshops.

Stephanie's goal as a teacher is to challenge dancers to push the boundaries of what they can do in heels while also highlighting the foundations of dance. She believes in the power of hard work, self-care, and determination and aims to inspire her students to believe that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Stephanie continues to spread her message and passion for dancing in heels, empowering others to embrace their creativity and express themselves through movement.
